Cicci Picapollo • Cucina latina: Reviews & Ratings
Megabandiera Dominicana, tavoli e sedie in legno colorati. No problem. Aspetteranno.

Nestled in the heart of Parma on Viale Ildebrando Cocconi, Cicci Picapollo • Cucina latina offers an authentic Latin American culinary journey that captivates from the very first bite. This vibrant spot brings the warmth and colors of the Caribbean, especially Dominican Republic flavors, right to Italy. The atmosphere, thoughtfully adorned with wooden furniture and a prominent Dominican flag, instantly transports you to a distant continent, setting the stage for a genuine cultural experience.
The true star here is, without a doubt, the Picapollo — crispy, spiced fried chicken pieces coated in a delicate batter, perfectly accompanied by golden fried yucca and plantain. The choice of yucca, or manioc, adds a delightful texture and earthiness that elevates the dish beyond the usual fried chicken fare. Complemented by a fresh and tangy side akin to a Russian salad, this plate strikes a harmonious balance of crunch, spice, and freshness. Every preparation is made to order, promising freshness and quality, though patience is rewarded with rich, satisfying flavors.
Beyond Picapollo, the menu sparkles with tropical delights such as the Mangu — a beloved Dominican original mashed plantain dish; Patacon Pisado E Carne, hearty smashed fried plantains with meat; and decadent Camarones con Coco, shrimp in coconut sauce, an exclusive order that beckons the adventurous palate. The drinks menu complements these dishes beautifully, featuring fresh juices like Succo di Maracuya (passion fruit) and inventive cocktails including the lively Pasion Latina and Playa Mentosa. For beer lovers, a chilled selection like Birra and an ice-cold Ichnusa perfectly round out the experience.
What truly strikes me is the authenticity and heartfelt service. Cicci, the passionate host, and her team create a welcoming environment where every dish is crafted with care and cultural pride. The music, the decor, and the genuine smiles make dining here more than a meal — it becomes a celebration of Latin American heritage. Previous visitors echo this sentiment, highlighting the high-quality ingredients, the exceptional fried chicken, and the added kindness of thoughtful touches like unexpected extras and attentiveness.
In a city like Parma, where such vibrant Latin flavors are rare, Cicci Picapollo • Cucina latina offers not just food but a flavorful escape, a moment to savor the spirit of the Caribbean with every bite. It is a place to relax, gather with friends, and immerse yourself in bold tastes that linger long after the meal ends. Highly recommended for those seeking genuine Latin comfort food infused with passion and tradition.
